Partnership Support

The following groups and individuals have provided financial support as well as formal and informal programmatic partnership support to make our programs affordable to participants, widely-known, physically sound, and inclusive for writers and artists.

Elkamp, Mineral’s glamping-est campground, has provided lodging and open invitations for artist residents to free-range roam their wooded grounds.

Family and Friends of Erin Donovan: This group of friends and family of the late writer and teacher Erin Donovan supports a fellowship each year for a woman-identifying writer who is 40 or older.

Family of Mona Lisa Roberts: This family supports one LGBTQ+ visual artist per year at Mineral via a fellowship.

Fire Mountain Arts Council: This Morton-based arts organization has partnered with us to co-host speakers in both Morton and Mineral.

Hugo House: Seattle-based literary center Hugo House has offered us free space for informational sessions about residency, as well as for presentations by Mineral alumni.

Gary Johnson: Mineral’s unofficial mayor has for many years helped us troubleshoot facility issues and offered his labor, his rolodex, his contracting know-how, his diplomacy, and his sense of humor to our project.

Mineral Lake Lions Club has offered financial support and volunteer help, partnering to run and promote art fairs, and creating scholarships for metro Mineral locals to participate for free in paid arts programs.

Rainier Independent Film Festival: In 2019, we partnered with the Rainier Independent Film Festival to host screenwriters as artist residents, then sent them to the RIFF festival in Ashford for lots of screen time.

Seattle Escribe: We held three residency sessions for writers whose first language is Spanish in partnership with Seattle Escribe, an organization that promotes creation of work in Spanish, in what we believe is the first all-Spanish residency on the west coast. The program was seeded and inspired by past board member Claudia Castro Luna.

Seattle Arts and Lectures’ Writers in the Schools (WITS) program: WITS since 2024 has supported an annual week-long residency for working artists who teach creative writing to youth in multiple schools in and beyond King County.

Seattle Public Library: The Seattle Public Library has offered our organization and other residency organizations free space in which to host informational events about residencies in Washington state.

Tahoma Literary Review: The Tahoma Literary Review supports one fellowship each year for a BIPOC poet or writer, letting applicants opt to present work for publication as well as residency consideration, or just for residency.

Max Vogt: Windermere Centralia broker Max Vogt helped us secure permanent space for our organization in Mineral, offering services at discount so we could affordably embark on a new chapter while also helping Mineral retain a community-based space that might have otherwise gone offline under private ownership.
